HPMC is a white or slightly yellowish powder, which is odorless, tasteless and non-toxic. It can be dissolved in cold water and organic mixed solvents to form a transparent viscous solution. The aqueous solution has surface activity, high transparency, strong stability, and is not affected by pH when dissolved in water. It has thickening and antifreezing effects in shampoo and body wash, and has water retention and good film-forming property for hair and skin.
